Automatic and manual zoom

Zoom is the reason Fouvia exists. While you record, the app logs every click system-wide along with the cursor path. In the editor that turns into camera motion without you drawing a single keyframe.

How the automatic mode decides

Clicks less than 2 seconds apart form a burst, and every burst becomes a block on the Zoom track. Inside a burst the camera stays in close and pans smoothly from one click to the next, passing through every point you clicked. When the burst ends, zoom returns to normal and shows the whole screen.

The camera arrives centered on its target before the click happens, not after. In practice: a lone click zooms in, shows, and comes back; a run of clicks follows the mouse magnified until you stop.

Tuning one zoom

Select a block on the track and the panel applies to that block alone:

• Strength: how far that zoom comes in.
• Focus: drag the point over the video to choose where the zoom should land.
• Timing: lead-in (how long before the click the camera arrives) and hold (how long it stays in).
• Camera motion: between Snappy, which settles fast, and Smooth, slower and more cinematic, ignoring small mouse jitter.

Manual zoom

Switch the mode to Manual only and nothing is created for you: you build the zooms by hand. Even on automatic you can add more: double-click the track, or use the plus button, to create a block at the playhead.

Motion blur

A cinematic trail: the image smears along the direction of travel while the camera slides and the pointer races. It applies to the whole video, with three strengths plus off.
