Troubleshooting
What to do when the recording is black, no zoom shows up, or the export stalls.
The record button is blocked
Either the Screen Recording permission is missing, or you have not picked the window or area to record. Hover the button and the bar tells you which.
The recording produced no zoom at all
No clicks were captured. On the Mac that is the Accessibility permission: without it recording works, but the app cannot see where you clicked. Allow it and record again. The Settings module shows, under This recording, how many clicks were logged.
The video came out black, frozen or with no picture
On macOS, Fouvia records through the native system engine, which is what makes stripping the cursor possible. On some setups it fails. In Settings, under the advanced options, turn on Force the legacy recording engine: it is more compatible, at the cost of baking the real cursor into the video.
The final video is shorter than the take
Screen capture stopped early, almost always because the screen locked or the computer went to sleep partway through. Audio and webcam keep recording in that case, and the app recovers and opens everything that existed up to the drop. Disable screen sleep before long recordings.
Computer sound is missing from the video
Record system audio has to be on before the take. If it already was, on macOS allow Fouvia Studio under System Settings, Privacy & Security, Screen & System Audio Recording, then reopen the app.
The export stopped midway
Almost always disk space. The app pauses the render, deletes the partial file and tells you. Free some space and export again. If it repeats with plenty of space free, send diagnostics.
I cannot find the app in System Settings
Look for Fouvia Studio. If you are running a development build, the name shown is Electron. Also check that the app was copied into Applications: run from inside the .dmg, permissions never stick.
None of the above helped
Settings has a Send diagnostics button that ships the app log, the version and your OS. It never includes the content of your recordings, your file names, or anything on your screen. In the editor, the bug button opens the same report with a field to describe what happened and an option to attach a screenshot.
