The recording bar
The floating panel at the bottom of the screen that decides everything before you hit record.
Fouvia has no big main window full of menus. What sits on screen is a floating bar at the bottom, holding everything that shapes your next recording. It disappears when the countdown starts and comes back when the editor closes.
Item by item
- Settings: capture resolution, countdown, app language, shortcuts, system audio, and the advanced options.
- Screen, Window, Area and Device: what gets recorded, including the screen of an iPhone or iPad on the cable. Each mode has its own article next.
- Camera: turns the live webcam bubble on and off, with a picker next to it to switch cameras.
- Microphone: turns your voice on and off, also with a device picker.
- The red button: starts the countdown and begins recording.
Your system default camera and microphone are already selected. In practice, recording your full screen with your voice and your face is one click on the red button.
Opening the bar without the mouse
With the app running, even if it is only the menu bar icon, four global shortcuts work over any other program:

Picking up an old project starts here too: under Settings, in the Project section, Open project file loads a saved .fouv and goes straight to the editor without recording anything.
